Razo is a wide, open sand-bottom beachbreak on the Costa da Morte, one of Galicia's most exposed stretches of Atlantic coastline. The beach catches NW and N swells that other nearby spots filter out, making it the go-to option when surrounding breaks are too small. Peaks shift along the beach according to sandbars, offering both lefts and rights with a reputation for fast, walled-up hollow sections and vertical takeoffs. The wave handles all tides, though bank shape changes as tides push through. A southeast or south-easterly offshore wind grooms the faces cleanly; any hint of a northwesterly shuts it down. Optimal swell size runs from around 0.9 to 2.4 meters, with the break becoming a serious proposition at the upper end for experienced surfers comfortable with powerful beachbreak conditions. The environment is exceptional: a very long stretch of beach in a beautiful coastal setting, rarely crowded even in summer, and practically deserted in winter.
