Traba is a long, exposed sand-bottom beachbreak on the Costa da Morte in Galicia, routinely ranked among the most consistent beaches in Spain. The break produces shifting left and right peaks across the beach, governed entirely by highly mobile sandbars that can reorganise between swells. Waves are well-covered and medium-paced rather than hollow or steep, giving them a forgiving feel that suits intermediate surfers looking for open-face riding rather than barrel hunting. The optimal window opens on westerly to northwesterly swells in the 0.9 to 2.4 metre range, with an easterly offshore smoothing the faces. Mid to high tide produces the most workable banks, while low tide can expose the sandbars and generate unpredictable closeouts. Strong rip currents are a constant presence and should be read carefully before paddling out, particularly after recent sandbar shifts. The beach itself is expansive, practically empty year-round and largely undeveloped, with free parking and no commercial infrastructure to speak of. Free camping is possible in the area.
