San Xorxe Surf Spot Guide — Galicia, Spain

San Xorxe is a west-facing crescent beach on the Galician coast, producing fast, punchy a-frame beachbreak peaks across a sandy bottom. The break works best from low to mid tide, when the banks steepen into short barrel sections with a vertical takeoff. Wave length runs 50 to 100 metres and size can push well overhead on a solid W to NW groundswell. The southern corner offers partial shelter from southerly winds, making the lefts there more reliable when the wind picks up. A south-easterly offshore lines up both peaks along the beach. San Xorxe sits in one of Spain's densest clusters of quality beachbreaks, with Doniños, Ponzos and Campelo all within a few kilometres. Rip currents are the main hazard, sharpening as the tide drops. The beach draws a moderate crowd but multiple peaks spread across the crescent keep things manageable. A lifeguard operates in season, free parking is available, and camping is nearby.
