Praia de Santa Comba is a sheltered sand-bottom beachbreak on the northern Galician coast, roughly 2km north of Ponzos. The beach faces northwest, catching Atlantic groundswells reliably and producing a-frame peaks with left and right options across a compact stretch of sand backed by low dunes. Conditions are typically emptier than the better-known spots along this stretch: Ponzos draws the regulars, leaving Santa Comba with a quieter lineup even on solid days. The wave performs best on mid-to-large NW groundswells of 1.5m or more, with low to mid-tide producing the sharpest banks. Easterly and southeasterly winds provide the offshore angle that cleans up faces on morning sessions. Rip currents are possible after sustained swell periods so check the water movement before paddling out. The crowd-free character makes Santa Comba a solid option when Ponzos and Doninos are packed. Access is straightforward along the coastal road.
