Ponzos is a consistent beachbreak on the Galician coast near Ferrol, picking up W to N swells across a sandy bay. A-frame peaks break along the beach with barrel sections that fire at low to mid tide when outgoing water sharpens the hollow shape. It is hollow and fast with a vertical takeoff: a serious wave. Faces run from 0.9 to 2.4 metres and consistency is high, meaning reliable surf for much of the year. The south end draws the most attention and crowds, but the long beach spreads surfers across multiple peaks. Best winds are South Westerly, providing clean offshore conditions. The spot handles all tides, though outgoing is ideal for tightening the hollows. Free parking and lifeguard cover in season. Summer weekend crowds and a strong local crew keep localism elevated. Visiting surfers should observe before committing to a peak.
