Punta Blanca is a north-facing a-frame break sitting on a wide bay just south of El Cotillo, on the windswept north coast of Fuerteventura. Waves pitch off a mixed sand-and-rock bottom as lefts and rights that tend to be soft, crumbly and forgiving rather than hollow. The break picks up any pulse from the north Atlantic, firing most reliably on NNE to NE swells in the 1 to 2 metre range. It works across all tide stages, though the cleaner, slower walls are most evident around mid tide. Offshore winds blow from the SE and E, cutting in behind the headland at Cotillo and tidying up the faces. An easy, accessible entry point for surfers not yet ready for the shallow reef intensity of La Derecha or The Bubble further up the coast. Summer sees a mix of beginners, longboarders and kite-learners; crowds gather on the best days but spread across a long stretch of beach. Respect local surf etiquette.
