Mejillones.

Mejillones is a submerged outer reef sitting off the north coast of Fuerteventura near Correlejo, picking up W to NE swells with exceptional consistency. The break produces a-frame peaks over an uneven reef with plenty of water covering it, which keeps the wave from getting super-shallow but does not reduce its punch. At smaller sizes, around 1-2m, the wave is peaky and workable with multiple takeoff spots spread across the reef. Once the swell steps up past 2m, the dynamic shifts: the wrapping swell stacks and the wave becomes shifty, demanding, and considerably bigger than it looks from the shoulder. Fast barrel sections open up on both sides and the takeoff turns critical - this is not a spot to paddle out without experience reading moving peaks. The reef bottom is uneven throughout and the entry and exit involve navigating urchin-covered rocks, making booties non-negotiable. Low-tide currents run hard and can be disorienting for anyone unfamiliar with the lineup.
