Exercise extreme caution when entering the water. Strong currents and large waves present. Warning valid until 9:00 PM.
Playa del Mujer is an exposed bay beachbreak sitting on Fuerteventura's northwest coast, tucked away from the main tourist belt on a rough track west of Tindaya. A substantial rock anchored in the middle of the bay acts as a natural groyne, forcing approaching swell to peel off in both directions - giving the spot its A-frame character. The bottom is clean sand, producing well-covered, slopey waves with barrel sections when the sandbanks line up correctly. Wave quality depends heavily on wind: the bay needs light conditions or a genuine E-SE offshorer to produce anything worth surfing. Without that wind protection, swells from the SW-NE window close out across the whole bay, especially once the surf climbs past waist-high. In small to moderate conditions, the mellow, medium-speed walls make it an approachable session for beginners and intermediates working on linking turns. The spot can become a full closeout at size. Rip currents are notably strong for swimmers, though experienced surfers can read the channels without issue.
Central rock splits the bay into peeling A-frames, sand-bottomed and wind-dependent.

Generally uncrowded outside summer. When the local surf school arrives the lineup fills quickly, but there are usually peaks spread across the bay to spread the crowd.
