Xago is a west-facing sand-bottom beachbreak on the Asturian coast, sitting within the protected Cabo Peñas landscape a short drive north of the industrial city of Avilés. The beach stretches for close to two kilometres and produces shifting left and right peaks across a range of sandbar configurations. Waves are medium-paced with a vertical takeoff and occasional barrel sections rather than full tube rides, running 50 to 100 metres before closing out. The spot is rated among the most consistent beachbreaks in Asturias, with a consistency score that means it rarely sits completely flat; it picks up swell when neighbouring spots fail to find size. Best swell comes from the W to NW quadrant, and the beach is naturally sheltered from the summer NE sea breezes that flatten out surrounding spots. Offshore winds blow from the SE or south-easterly direction. The spot works across all tides, though individual sandbar quality shifts with tide height and the location of the best peak changes accordingly.
