Salinas runs for roughly two kilometres of open sand between Playa El Espartal and the town of Salinas, inside the municipality of Castrillón. The break fires on W through N swells that wrap into the bay and throw up a_frame peaks the full length of the beach, with waves typically covering 50 to 100 metres before closing out. At its best the surf is fast and punchy with barrelling sections, and the break remains functional across all stages of the tide, though the banks reorganise constantly. The western end of the beach tends to soften out and is smaller on the same swell, making it marginally more approachable, while the main peaks through the centre and east push harder and reward experienced surfers who can read the shifting sandbanks. Optimal swell sits from 1 metre upwards, with the break genuinely powerful and hollow when NW groundswells exceed 1.5 metres. A southeasterly offshore wind grooms the faces and coincides with the most productive conditions.
