Surf spot guide · Bali, Indonesia
Sindhu Right is a versatile right-hand reef break in Sanur, Bali, featuring playful walls at high tide and heavy barrels at low tide.
Sindhu Right, also known as Tanjung Sari Right or Belan Belan, is a consistent coral reef break located close to shore in Sanur, Bali, famous for its long, playful right-handers. The wave works best on a mid to high tide, offering fun, mellow rides ideal for intermediate surfers during small swells, while low tide combined with bigger swells transforms it into a fast, hollow, and powerful barrel suited for advanced surfers. Swells from the south through southwest light it up, and the season is the wet half of the year, roughly November to March. The wave can run for up to 200 meters, featuring a well-defined channel that allows for easy paddle-outs. The reef is shallow and sharp in places, posing hazards along with strong currents, so local knowledge and careful timing are essential for safety. The offshore wind here is the wet season northwesterly; the dry season trade wind blows straight onshore on this east-facing coast. The spot is easily accessible from the beach, has a relaxed vibe, and is close to nearby cafes. Crowds tend to increase during peak season and on weekends.

Park at Pantai Sindhu and paddle out through the channel.
High tide with a small swell is the intermediate window: the wave breaks softly and there is water over the reef.
Low tide with a solid swell is expert only. That is when it barrels and when people hit the coral.
The offshore here is the wet season northwest wind, so aim for November to March, not the dry months.
It breaks much closer to shore than Hyatt Reef or Sanur Reef, so you can read it from the boardwalk before you paddle.
