Halfway is a shifting sand-bottom beach break on Kuta Beach, about 50 metres north of Poppies Lane 2. It breaks both ways, with the right usually offering the longer, better-shaped ride and a small channel helping it run farther than nearby peaks. Typical waves are soft and knee- to waist-high, while larger low-tide swells can turn the wave hollow, fast and barrelled. The spot generally works from waist-high to overhead, though larger sets can close out. Smaller conditions suit beginners, while the hollow low-tide version is best left to advanced surfers.
