Surf spot guide · Bali, Indonesia
Batu Bolong is a mellow reef break in Canggu, Bali, ideal for beginners and intermediates with consistent, long, gentle waves and a lively crowd year-round.
Batu Bolong is one of Bali’s most popular surf spots, located in the vibrant area of Canggu. The wave features both left and right peaks that can peel for over 100 meters across a well-covered reef, providing long, slow-breaking rides ideal for beginners and longboarders. Intermediate surfers can also enjoy the mellow, playful walls, though the spot is rarely suitable for advanced surfers seeking heavy barrels. Batu Bolong works on all tides and a range of swell sizes, with early mornings and post-storm sessions offering the best conditions. The area is known for its lively beach scene, easy access, and nearby amenities, but the lineup can get extremely crowded, especially during peak season. Hazards include occasional submerged rocks and sea urchins, so caution is advised.
