Echo Beach.

Echo Beach in Canggu, Bali is the left reef ledge that breaks straight out from the Echo Beach restaurant strip, with sand peaks and lower quality overspill either side of it. The waves work best during the dry season, especially from April to October, attracting locals, tourists and expats alike. The main wave jacks up as it hits the knobbly reef, barrels through a fast section on the mid tide, then shoulders off into the deep paddling channel, with rides of up to 100 metres possible. High tide exposes reef closer to shore and low tide closes out the initial barrel section, so mid to high is the working window. The lineup is crowded year-round, particularly during mid-morning and sunset sessions, and the take-off zone is tight enough that getting a wave when it is good is genuinely hard. A rip runs between the reef and the beach, so expect constant paddling to hold position. The reef is shallow, uneven and sharp, and at lower tides boils on the surface mark submerged rock, so caution is needed to avoid injuries. Facilities such as cafes and board rentals are available right on the beach. Echo Beach suits intermediate and advanced surfers due to wave power, reef hazards and challenging currents.
