Watch for shifting sandbars after storms

HAZARDS · KNOW BEFORE YOU PADDLE

The lineup is heavily regulated by a small local crew who surf only this peak, and it is not a place for beginners or improvers
A rip runs seaward between Echo Beach Left and the Sandbar peak and will pull you off the peak while you wait
Water quality drops sharply after heavy rain, when river and storm runoff reaches this stretch of sand
The sandbank shifts constantly, so the same swell can give a perfect wedge one week and square closeouts the next
Once it is over head and a half the takeoffs get heavy and a lot of water moves unpredictably through the zone
