Surf spot guide · Bali, Indonesia
Serangan is a consistent wet season reef break with multiple peaks, suitable for all skill levels and known for its crowd.
Serangan is a popular reef break on Bali's east coast, known for its consistency and variety of waves. It works best during the wet season when other spots are blown out, offering shifting peaks over a coral platform that break on all tides. The waves range from waist-high to double overhead, with both left and right options. The main area in front of the warungs features random peaks, while further left and right offer longer lefts and shorter rights, catering to surfers of all abilities from intermediates to advanced. The lineup can get crowded, especially on weekends and holidays, but the spot can handle large crowds. Access is easy by car or scooter via a causeway and dirt tracks, with entry through a security checkpoint and a short walk to the beach. Local warungs and board rentals are available nearby. Surfers should be cautious of hazards such as sharp reef and sea urchins, particularly at low tide.
