High Waves

Geger Right is a right-hand reef wave on Bali’s southeastern coast, reached from Geger Beach near Nusa Dua. It favors southern to southeasterly swells and is generally most dependable during the dry-season surf window. The wave is comparatively sheltered and can offer mellow, lined-up rides, although the reef becomes shallow and more technical as size increases. It is usually best around incoming to higher tides, which provide safer coverage over the inside reef. The beach setting and resort access make it a popular alternative to Bali’s busier west-coast breaks.

A long, powerful right-hand offshore reef break in Bali with a big swell window, offering consistent rides and occasional barrels in offshore trades.
Bali
Geger Left is the left at the southern end of the Nusa Dua reef, on the corner of reef off Pura Geger. Three peaks line up outside the channel and grow in size and power the further out you go, from an intermediate inside section to an outside peak that jacks up on the edge of the Lombok Strait. It is a wet season wave, cleanest when a west or north-west wind blows offshore.
Bali
Black Stone breaks on the south side of the Nusa Gede headland at Nusa Dua, where backwash off the rock wedges the peak into a steep, fast take-off. It is mostly lefts with a short right off the peak, it wants mid tide and a small to medium wet season swell, and it holds something for every level from whitewater on the inside to overhead sections out the back.

Sheltered and scenic
Use reef boots if you are unfamiliar with shallow coral entries.
Check the reef and entry route carefully before paddling out.
Aim for incoming to high tide for better reef coverage.
Respect priority at the main right-hand peak.
Avoid crossing the reef on foot at low tide.
