Nusa Dua is located on Bali’s east coast, a few hundred meters offshore from Geger Beach in front of the Mulia hotel, and is one of the island’s most consistent right-hand reef breaks. It works best during the wet season (Nov–March) and early mornings when the winds switch offshore. The spot features a large coral reef exposed to the Indian Ocean, producing long, powerful right-handers that can offer barrels and rides over 200 meters. It rarely goes flat, making it a reliable choice even on smaller days, though it needs a solid swell to fully wake up. The takeoff can be steep and the wave fast, especially on bigger days, with shifting peaks and occasional closeouts adding unpredictability. There is also a left-hand break off the south side of the reef. Access is either by a long paddle or by boat, with strong currents and large sweeps common, particularly at higher tides. Hazards include sharp reef, strong currents, large waves, and seaweed farms that can cause cuts during the paddle out. While not as crowded as Uluwatu, Nusa Dua remains a favorite for surfers chasing clean rights during Bali’s off-season on the west coast.
