Geger Left is the left at the southern end of the Nusa Dua reef, on the corner of reef off Pura Geger. Three peaks line up outside the channel and grow in size and power the further out you go, from an intermediate inside section to an outside peak that jacks up on the edge of the Lombok Strait. It is a wet season wave, cleanest when a west or north-west wind blows offshore.
High Waves
Large waves up to 2.7m expected at Geger Left. Peak conditions around 6:00 AM.
Exercise extreme caution when entering the water. Strong currents and large waves present. Warning valid until 9:00 PM.
Geger Left breaks over a shallow limestone reef near Geger Beach on Bali’s southeastern Bukit coast. It favors south to southwest swells and commonly produces a manageable, peeling left with occasional longer rides. The wave is generally gentler than Bali’s more exposed reef breaks, although larger swells make the takeoff and inside section more demanding. Mid to high water provides better coverage over the reef, while low tide exposes uneven rock and sea urchins. Access is straightforward from Geger Beach, but the lineup can become busy with local surfers, lessons, and resort guests.
It is often moderately busy, especially on clean dry-season mornings and weekends. The lineup fills quickly when nearby resorts and surf schools are active.
Relaxed resort-side reef
Use booties if walking across the reef at low tide.
Watch the reef carefully before choosing a takeoff position.
Allow extra room around surf-school groups and longboards.
Respect local surfers and the beach’s nearby religious sites.
