Melasti is a beach-break surf spot on Bali’s Bukit Peninsula, beneath tall limestone cliffs and beside a popular tourist beach. It receives southwest swells and can produce manageable lefts and rights, although wave quality varies considerably with sand movement and tide. The break is generally friendlier for intermediates than Bali’s more powerful reefs, but shallow sections and shifting currents demand care. Easterly winds during the dry season often provide the cleanest conditions, while weekends and holidays bring heavy beach and lineup traffic. Access is straightforward from the developed beach entrance, followed by a descent from the parking area to the sand.
The beach is busy with tourists and surf lessons, especially on weekends and holidays. The lineup is usually less intense than Bali’s main west-coast breaks but can become congested during clean swell.

Check the inside for rocks before committing to a low-tide session.

Drive to Melasti Beach parking, then follow the paved stairway down the cliff to the sand; carrying a board back up is moderately strenuous.
