Balangan.

Balangan sits on a broad bay backed by cliffs, with a shallow coral reef producing long left-hand rides along a white sand beach. The reef break stretches from a headland and is divided into three main sections: the first breaks behind the headland offering quick, zippy walls and barrels; the second provides more opportunities for turns and occasional barrels; and the third features fast, barrelling walls at the reef’s end. It works best on high tide and solid swells, with waves connecting for 50-100 meters typically, though in perfect conditions rides can reach 200-300 meters. High tide creates a mellow wave suitable for beginners on smaller days, while low tide exposes the reef, producing hollow, barreling sections that challenge intermediate to advanced surfers. Sharp coral hazards are especially present at the end section, so reef booties and caution are advised. Access involves navigating winding roads, and there are plenty of amenities nearby. Exiting the water requires paddling through whitewater or duck diving over the reef.
