Padang Padang is a world-famous reef break on Bali's Bukit Peninsula, often called the 'Balinese Pipeline.' It produces powerful, fast, and hollow left-hand waves, best suited for advanced surfers. The wave works best during the dry season with solid southwest swells and easterly winds. The takeoff is steep, followed by a shallow reef barrel section. Crowds are common, especially during prime conditions, and the reef is sharp and shallow. The area offers stunning scenery and a lively surf culture.

HAZARDS · KNOW BEFORE YOU PADDLE

The end section is the injury zone: on lower tides it breaks in front of dry, exposed reef.
Water draining off the reef after a set can drag you across that shallow end section.
A fall almost always means hitting sharp dead coral, so booties and reef protection are normal here.
The take-off is a pitching lip over a tight peak, with no room for a late decision.
The lineup is always crowded, and drop-ins and snaking are common when it is good.
Localism is real: wait your turn and do not paddle around the local rotation.
