Roca Puta is a big-wave reef break on the east side of Orrua beach, on the Basque Coast between Getaria and Zumaia. The wave is a thick, freight-train right hander that throws square, air-drop barrels over an uneven reef in the 2.5-5.5m range, needing a large, clean NW to N swell to fire - peak winter months only. The take-off sits perilously near the rocks, the first section is critical, and the wave shuts down at around 5.5m. Ultra-selective and rarely breaking more than a handful of times per season, an incoming high tide is the only viable window. Entry and exit are difficult; the reef is super-shallow and boily, with powerful rips running through the lineup. Limited parking sits above the break overlooking the wave. Pollution from the nearby estuary can affect water quality after rain. A tight, unforgiving lineup where locals will not tolerate inexperienced surfers - this is a spot for committed big-wave riders only.
