Mid to high tide is the sweet spot, when banks are covered enough to prevent full closeouts. SW and W winds blow offshore, aligning well with Basque Country autumn and winter conditions. Wave faces are steep and pace is moderate, suiting performance turns at intermediate level. It serves as an overflow break when bigger swells make La Zurriola unworkable. The urban setting offers good amenities including showers and lifeguard cover, though summer parking is difficult and expensive. Moderate pollution from residential and stormwater runoff is a known drawback. Crowds gather when it fires, drawing local intermediates and city-based surfers. Within its limited usable window, it delivers a reliable city-centre option.
