Lafitenia is a righthand point break that unwinds across a bay floored by uneven reef and sand, delivering rides of 100-200m on the right swell. The wave opens with a steep, stepped take-off that demands commitment, then settles into a long, slopey wall ideal for drawn-out carves and repeated cutbacks into the hook. An inside section occasionally hollows out before the wave finishes in a shorebreak closeout. The headland provides meaningful shelter, meaning even NE winds stay manageable - only a full E wind truly hurts conditions. More westerly swell angles line the wall cleanly across the bay, with NW the optimal direction. The spot needs low to rising tide to perform; high tide smothers the wave when swell is modest. Wave size range sits in the 1-1.5m to 4.5m band, though the point can handle more. A harder-to-access outside left lurks beyond the main take-off zone and has seen big-wave tow sessions in significant swells - this is no place for the unprepared. Quiksilver's European headquarters sits directly above the bay, a fact that explains the near-permanent crowd. Access is via the Acotz road, with a free car park above the bay. The campground on the hill makes this a multi-day destination for travelling surfers, though expect company in the water at any hour.
