NW swell is the key ingredient, and the falling tide is the prime window: high tide smothers the reef and kills the shape entirely, while afternoon onshore sea-breezes reliably end sessions before midday. Peaks scatter across the beach giving surfers of varying ability room to spread out, though the shallow, boily sections favor intermediates comfortable with a quick drop over an uneven bottom. The large Camping Pavillion Royal backs the beach directly, with free car park access on-site and roadside parking nearby. A surf school operates here year-round, reflecting the more approachable side of the break.
