Orrua.

Orrua sits in a small cove on the Basque coast between Zumaia and Getaria, sheltered behind a harbour wall that shapes both its access and its limitations. The break is a sand-bottom beachbreak producing short, often semi-closing peaks with a steep face and medium pace. The well-covered bottom keeps the wave forgiving, though the tendency to section limits what you can do on it. Waves range roughly 0.6-1.8m. The spot needs NW to N swell to wrap into the cove, and low to mid tide is the sweet spot - more water kills the shape quickly. Southerly winds provide clean offshore conditions. Access is easy with free roadside parking. The neighbouring break Roca Puta, a heavy expert-only reef right off the rocks to the north, dominates this stretch of coast - Orrua draws intermediates looking for something manageable when Zarautz is packed. Water quality is a concern: estuary runoff, residential drainage, and stormwater degrade conditions after rain. Rarely crowded.
