Short, hollow left-hander on the La Triangular reef, firing on lined-up west swells at low tide.
La Izquierda de la Triangular is the left-hand wedge breaking off the La Triangular reef at the eastern end of Playa La Salvaje. The wave jacks up quickly on an uneven reef bottom, throwing a steep, fast wall that bowls and wedges through the section before shutting down in the inside - best described as punchy and unforgiving rather than long or workable. The hollow shape and vertical takeoff reward commitment; hesitation sees the lip land on your head. It works best on medium W to NW swells from 1.2m up to around 3.5m, strictly at low tide when the reef is properly exposed and the geometry tightens. Smaller or higher-tide conditions produce a mushy, badly defined version not worth paddling out for. Entry is from the beach at La Salvaje - time the sets to avoid the rocks on the inside on the way back in. Parking is available adjacent to the beach in winter and serviceable with surf schools and camping nearby, though spaces become metered and restricted through summer.
Consistently busy, with a small take-off zone that concentrates the pack. Locals hold priority firmly and visitors are expected to read the hierarchy before paddling into the rotation.
