Long, fast righthand reef-point at Barinatxe, firing on W-NW swells from 1.2m up.
La Derecha de la Triangular is the right-hander peeling off the Triangular reef at the eastern end of Barinatxe beach, just outside Sopela. It breaks over uneven reef with a bowly entry and slopey mid-section that can run 50-100m on the right swell - one of the longer rides on this stretch of Basque coast. The wave needs a lined-up W-NW swell to get going properly; at smaller sizes it tends to be slow, but from around 1.5m it organises into a proper righthand wall. Mid to high tide is the window - the reef becomes too shallow at low. The companion left at the same reef (La Izquierda) offers a shorter, punchier option at low tide. Longboarders dominate the lineup on smaller days, sharing space with the regular shortboard crew. Very crowded on any decent swell - this is a well-known, accessible spot close to Bilbao. The local crew is tight and territorial; expect a pecking order in the water. Nearby La Salvaje beachbreak offers an overflow option when this reef is maxed.

Always busy. One of the most accessible quality reef breaks near Bilbao, drawing longboarders, intermediates and the local crew on any rideable swell. Summer weekends are extremely crowded.

Car park at Barinatxe beach, free in winter (camper vans permitted), restricted and metered in summer. Good beach facilities nearby including surf school and camping. The spot lies at the east end of La Salvaje beach.
