Playa de Garcey.

Playa de Garcey is a sheltered sand beachbreak tucked into a cliff-flanked bay on Fuerteventura's west coast, now best known as the resting place of the rusting American Star wreck. The wave breaks over a flat sandy bottom, delivering crumbly, slopey a-frame peaks with a medium pace and forgiving takeoff - well-covered and mellow rather than hollow, suited to progressive intermediates working on turns. Multiple peak options spread out when small, but above 1.8m the wave becomes disorganised and rip-affected, losing its shape quickly. The bay's real value is its south-facing exposure and cliff-sheltered position: when north swells shut down Cotillo and El Burro, Garcey can still be picking up 0.9m of clean energy. It catches any direction from S through NE, and the east wind that ruins exposed breaks elsewhere is cross-offshore here. Access requires finding a rough dirt track beside a riverbed south of Pajara - the turn is easy to miss and there are no signs.
