Las Salinas.

Las Salinas is a right-hand reef break that sits dormant for most of the year, waking up only a handful of times when big NW swells push enough energy past the island's north coast to reach this south-facing stretch. When it does fire, the wave is fast and hollow, pitching hard over supershallow uneven reef that demands a committed, precise takeoff. The barrel sections are the defining feature, with the wave ledging up quickly and offering little room for hesitation. At 1.5-3.7m the break shows its full character - controlled, powerful rights peeling 50-100m across shallow rock. The spot sits in a remote stretch of coastline with no lifeguard, facilities or surf school - you are well away from any service town, so self-sufficiency is essential. Free roadside parking is the only access infrastructure. Rips run along the reef and urchins carpet the bottom, compounding the risks on any wipeout. Weekend sessions bring a tight crew of local regulars who know the break intimately and make their presence felt.
