Los Locos is a west-facing sand-bottom beachbreak sitting just outside the town of Suances, delivering shifting a-frame peaks across a well-covered sandy bottom. The waves break hollow and steep - brk_wave_hollow and brk_wave_steep are both true - with fast wall sections that reward committed surfing. Cliffs to the northeast provide natural shelter from summer NE sea breezes, keeping the surface cleaner than many exposed Cantabrian beaches on those days. The break fires most reliably on NW swells, with the W through N window all productive at sizes from under 1m up to around 2.4m before it gets unwieldy. All tides work here, giving the spot a long daily window. Entry and exit are straightforward from the sandy beach, with car parking available both in a car park and roadside above the break. Facilities are unusually complete for the Cantabrian coast, with a surf school, surf shops and camping within easy reach.
