Galizano is a rivermouth beachbreak tucked at the end of a winding track on the Cantabrian coast, where shifting sandbars pile up against the estuary outflow to produce punchy a-frame peaks. The wave quality is highly sandbar-dependent and can swing between average and genuinely excellent when the bars align. On a solid W or NW groundswell, the faces become steep and fast, with barrel sections opening up in the 0.6 to 1.8 metre range before the tide fills in. Low to rising tide is the window: mid-tide onwards tends to soften the faces and push the break onto flatter sand. The best wind is a southeasterly offshore, which holds the lip and gives time on the wall. The spot is moderately consistent by Cantabrian standards and rarely draws a crowd, though when the banks are genuinely firing the local crew materialises quickly. Access is via a narrow track with limited roadside parking that fills on summer weekends. There are no on-site facilities. Nearby campsites make this a good base for multiday trips along the coast.
