Langre sits at the base of a dramatic clifftop headland east of Santander, reached via a steep path from the car park above. The beach faces northwest and picks up groundswell from the Atlantic fetch across the Bay of Biscay cleanly, thanks to partial shelter from strong southwesterly and westerly storms provided by the surrounding topography. Banks shift seasonally but tend to produce steep, punchy peaks that favour fast surfing on mid-length boards rather than long drawn-out rides. Wave length sits in the 50-100m range and the break rewards surfers who can read the shifting takeoff zones. Low tide concentrates the energy and produces the most vertical sections, while mid tide smooths out the sharper lips and allows for longer walls. The beach remains one of the quieter spots on this stretch of coast outside of summer, when the car park above fills and access slows.
