Punta Paloma is a right-hand point break on a cape inside Valdevaqueros bay, about 10 kilometres north of Tarifa. The wave peels over an uneven mix of reef and sand, producing performance walls that run 200-500 metres when conditions align - rare but memorable. Well-covered rather than hollow, it runs medium to fast with wrapping swell energy and a bowly power section on the better sets. Low tide tightens the wall and occasionally produces cover-ups; the wave softens as the tide fills in. The break comes alive when SW through NW groundswells push above 2m and a north-easterly offshore cleans the faces - the same conditions that overwhelm most neighbouring Tarifa-area beaches. Access involves roadside parking near the pine forest by the military base, then a 10-minute walk through the trees to the point. That walk filters casual visitors and keeps numbers manageable. When the point is firing, nearby breaks along the Tarifa coast also light up, spreading surfers further along the shore.

Head toward Tarifa on the N-340 and turn off at signs for Punta Paloma. Drive toward the military base and park roadside in the pine forest. From there it is a 10-minute walk through the pine trees and out onto the point. Roadside parking only - no formal car park.
