Surf spot guide Β· Peniche, Portugal
Rocky Peniche reef with lefts, rights and serious winter big-wave potential.
PapΓ΄a is a rocky reef break producing both lefts and rights, often forming an A-frame over the bay. Smaller swells can provide comparatively mellow waves with a paddle-out channel, while larger conditions turn it into a powerful Peniche big-wave reef. The spot favors west to northwest swell, easterly winds and mid-to-high tides. It is primarily an advanced wave, with bigger surf dangerous enough for tow-in surfing, and is most active from October through March.
