Gamboa Surf Spot Guide — Peniche, Portugal

Gamboa is the southern, town-end section of Baleal Bay beside Peniche Fortress. This sheltered, sand-bottom beach break produces both lefts and rights, with less swell than the bay’s northern sections. Rocks occur at the beach ends and in parts of the bathing area, while the section near the small jetty is safer. The beach is popular with beginners, intermediates, and surf schools. Surfing is possible year-round, although waves can be small because of the shelter.
