Surf spot guide Β· Peniche, Portugal
Mellow, sandy beach break with multiple beginner-friendly peaks and occasional faster rights.
Cantinho da BaΓa is a named sandy beach break on the south side of Baleal Island, with multiple peaks breaking left and right. Waves start slowly, then become faster inside, with long rights that can occasionally turn hollow. The gently shelving sand bottom commonly reforms into long whitewater, while outer peaks offer smaller green faces for progressing surfers. It is chiefly suited to beginners, with intermediates using the outer peaks. Surf is available year-round, with smaller learning waves in May-September and more powerful conditions in autumn and winter.
