Praia de Faro is an exposed, long, sand-bottomed beachbreak with shifting peaks breaking both left and right. Typical good days produce mellow, mushy surf around 2-3 feet, with occasional wedging A-frames. Larger winter swells can become hollow, powerful, and closing out across sections of the beach. West-southwest swell with northeast wind offers the cleanest conditions, while May onward is often flat. The wave is mainly beginner-friendly, although larger conditions suit more experienced surfers.
