Consistent Seignosse beach break firing quality A-frame peaks on W-NW swells, handles more size than its neighbours.
Les Estagnots is a high-performance sand-bottom beach break in Seignosse Ocean, sitting between Le Penon to the north and Les Cul Nuls to the south. When a solid W-NW swell arrives, the sandbars produce well-shaped A-frame peaks that bowl up, stand steep, and peel both ways across the 50-100m ride. The wave has more size tolerance than neighbouring Bourdaines and Penon, meaning it stays organised a touch longer before going critical. Depth readings show a mix of shallow and well-covered sections, so the banks shift between punchy bowly walls at mid-sizes and increasingly hollow, fast sections as the swell builds. High-tide inside banks are a particular highlight - steep, quick, and genuinely hollow in the right conditions. Above around 1.5m, strong longshore drift becomes a serious factor and positioning becomes a constant battle. The optimal swell direction is NW, with the window extending into W and N. Any easterly wind cleans the face up nicely. An incoming tide tends to produce the most organised banks. Les Estagnots sits at the heart of the Hossegor stretch, one of Europe's most celebrated beachbreak zones, and draws consistent crowds year-round as a result. The lineup is rarely quiet, and a vocal local contingent makes its presence felt. Paddling out from the main beach access is straightforward, but read the rip channels first - they shift with the banks.
