Surf spot guide Β· Nouvelle Aquitaine, France
Seignosse's most consistent beachbreak, with defined left/right peaks off stable sandbars that work on virtually any swell.
Les Bourdaines is a high-performance beachbreak anchored by unusually stable sandbars that have made it the most reliable surf spot in the Seignosse stretch. The banks produce well-defined a-frame peaks on either side of the main access path, generating bowly, steep, fast-breaking lefts and rights in the 0.3-3.7m range. A distinct channel typically separates the primary peaks, making entry and exit more manageable than nearby breaks. On smaller swells the waves are playful and accessible; as size builds, sections become increasingly hollow and powerful, with the inside turning rippy and unpredictable. Dead high tide flattens the banks and produces frustrating close-outs when conditions are small. Optimal windows run on W to NW groundswells with an easterly offshore holding the faces clean. The spot's consistent output has made it a regular competition venue - when the rest of the Landes coast shuts down, Bourdaines often delivers something contestable. Peaks extend north toward Le Penon, giving the lineup room to spread, though the section directly off the path draws the bulk of the crowd. Summer afternoons pack out hard; early mornings and shoulder season offer the most space. Localism exists and is felt, particularly at the main peak - observe the lineup before committing. The short walk from the car park keeps turnover high throughout the day.

One of the busiest beachbreaks in the Landes region - expect a packed lineup from mid-morning through afternoon in summer. Contest activity and proximity to holiday accommodation amplify crowds; pre-dawn or late sessions are the only reliable escape.

+9 MORE βArrive early - the car park and peak crowd out fast by mid-morning in summer, especially during school holidays
The defined channel just south of the access path is the safest entry and exit route in most conditions
Peaks spread north toward Le Penon on bigger days - walking further up the beach reduces crowd pressure significantly
Dead high tide is the weakest window on small swells, time sessions around low to mid on those days
Seignosse beachbreaks are known for sea lice during warm months - a full wetsuit or rash vest reduces exposure
HAZARDS Β· KNOW BEFORE YOU PADDLE
