The spot works best from low through to mid tide on a falling outgoing push; once the tide fills in fully, the wave degrades into a flat, unsurfable shorebreak and entry becomes hazardous. It functions as the sensible alternative when La Gravière or La Nord are firing overhead-plus surf that demands a serious skill set. The name essentially translates its role: the south option. Being adjacent to the Capbreton rivermouth means water quality is a recurring concern, particularly after heavy rain. Rip currents and sea lice are present. The spot draws a consistent crowd given its accessible nature and proximity to town - expect company, especially on weekends when the bigger beaches are maxed out.
