Les Cul Nuls occupies the stretch of sand that connects the more forgiving beachbreaks to the north with the infamous shorebreak of La Graviere to the south, and it draws characteristics from both neighbours. The wave breaks over a steep sand bottom, producing hollow, fast-moving a-frames that bowl and wedge close to the shore. The combination of shallow depth and steep beach profile means the wave jacks quickly - flat spots are rare when it's on, and the takeoff demands commitment. At moderate NW swell with incoming tide, the banks organise into punchy, bowly peaks that deliver short, sharp barrels in the 50-100m range. Bigger swells push the wave into territory more akin to La Graviere, and the spot notably hosted tow-out sessions during the 2010 Quiksilver Pro when swell overwhelmed the main competition break. The name itself - roughly translating as 'bare bums' - is a nod to the nudist beach culture that once defined this stretch. Access runs via long slatted boardwalks through stabilised dunes, and roadside parking is limited and soft-surfaced, which keeps the crowds thinner than nearby spots with easier access. The site sits dormant through smaller summer swells, so it earns its crowds selectively. When a proper W-NW swell arrives, the banks can rival anything in the Hossegor corridor. Advanced intermediates and above will find it rewarding; those not ready for sudden, powerful shorebreak should consider Les Estagnots or Les Bourdaines instead.
