Labenne-Ocean is a classic Landes beachbreak delivering fast, hollow A-frame peaks over a sandy bottom. The waves break close to shore, welling up quickly and throwing bowly sections that offer short, punchy tube opportunities in the 0.6-3.0m range. It fires best on a moderate to solid NW swell with easterly offshores, when the peaks become genuinely heavy and reward quick, committed takeoffs. At high tide the shorebreak intensifies dramatically and the wave needs real size to push through - incoming and lower tides tend to produce the most workable conditions. Part of the long straight stretch of the Landes coast, it sits just south of Capbreton and shares the region's classic W-to-N swell window. Consistent enough to draw crowds regularly, shifting sand concentrates the lineup onto just a handful of peaks rather than spreading surfers across the beach. Localism is well established here - the local crew maintains clear priority on the better peaks and visitors are expected to read the hierarchy. A free car park gives direct beach access with a clear sightline of conditions before paddling out. Ondres, 3km south along the beach, offers a useful alternative when Labenne is maxed or crowded.
