Surf spot guide · NYC Tri-State, United States
Long curving sand beachbreak on the west end of Fire Island, splitting into four parking-field peaks across the tide.
Robert Moses sits on the western, curving end of Fire Island, where a long sand beach is split into four parking field sections that each fish a slightly different angle of swell. The eastern lots pick up the most open ocean energy, while the western end bends south toward Democrat Point and lines up cleaner left walls when size drops. Mid tide is the sweet spot, throwing close-out hollow sections on the inside bar that fire fast and steep over plain sand bottom. Bigger pulses move the action onto an outer bank that holds shifting peaks for hold-down rights and lefts. The park is the easiest car-park access in the New York City reach, which keeps numbers up at the main lot when an east through south windswell lands with a clean northwest offshore. Currents run hard between the bars, especially through the inlet end, and water can sting with jellies in late summer.
Four parking lots fish four different angles of swell along Fire Island's curving sand.

Numbers stack at the main field whenever the buoy ticks up because this is the easiest paved-lot wave in the New York reach. Spread between the four parking fields and lulls open up.
