Los Patos is a shifting sand-bottom beachbreak on the northeast coast of Tenerife, a few kilometres from Puerto de la Cruz and regarded as the closest accessible surf option for that town. The break faces north and picks up NW through NE groundswell readily, giving it above-average consistency for the island. Peaks shift along the beach and tend to be slopey and medium-paced, with a steeper takeoff possible when the banks stack up on the incoming tide. Waves stay well-covered rather than hollow and produce rideable walls across all tide stages, though the window tightens and flat spots appear more often on the biggest tides. The spot closes out quickly once swell exceeds roughly 1.8 metres, so it is most productive in the 0.3 to 1.2 metre range. A southerly wind cleans up the face; any northerly component onshore and conditions deteriorate fast. Access requires a long walk from the road and can become awkward at high tide when rocks near the waterline are covered.
