El Callado.

El Callado is a boulder-reef a-frame break tucked into the small coastal settlement of Bajamar on the north coast of Tenerife. The wave peaks over a shallow boulder field and walls up in both directions, with sections running 50 to 100 metres on a good NW or NE groundswell. The shape data shows a slopey, steep-faced peak that wells up smoothly rather than pitching hard, producing medium-pace walls suited to turns and cutbacks rather than full tube riding. Performance surfing is the defining mode here. Wave faces are well-covered and the bottom produces regular boils, so the ride stays lively but rarely violent. The break works across all tides, though incoming swell and an incoming tide tend to organise the banks most reliably. Size range is roughly 0.6 to 2.4 metres, with the spot performing best on an overhead NE pulse pushed by the trade-wind fetch. A southerly or south-southeast wind keeps the faces clean; the dominant northerly trades blow cross-onshore and chop up the surface, so dawn glass is worth prioritising.
