San Cosme is a long stretch of north-facing sandy beach running toward the Foz rivermouth in Galicia, northern Spain. The break delivers shifting a-frame peaks over a sand bottom, surfable across all tides, which makes it one of the most accessible and consistent options in the area. Waves are generally slopey and well-covered rather than hollow, with steeper sections and a medium-to-fast pace on better swells. Optimal size runs from around 0.9m to 2.4m, with W to NW swell the primary driver despite the beach's north-facing aspect trapping a useful portion of oceanic energy. A south-westerly wind goes offshore here, cleaning up the faces and making conditions more organised. The beach has earned a loyal following among the campervan touring community who work up and down the Galician coast, and in summer the car park becomes a village of its own. Multiple peaks spread the crowd along the beach so finding a corner is usually possible. Facilities are solid: free parking, showers, restrooms, lifeguard cover in season, and several campsites and bars within easy reach.
