Bares.

Bares is an east-facing sand beach break tucked behind the Bares peninsula in Galicia's far northwest. Its orientation shields it from westerly and northwesterly onshores that punish the exposed Atlantic coast, making it a genuine refuge when the rest of the area is blown out. That same sheltering geography is also its limitation: the break only wakes up during the largest NW to N swells, when enough energy wraps around the headland to generate rideable waves. When it fires, expect peaks over a sandy bottom with a tendency to close out quickly above mid tide. Low tide is the sweet spot. Wave faces are slopey and medium-paced, suited to carving rather than power surfing. Flat spots are common and shape rarely holds long. The surrounding environment compensates: the bay is rarely crowded, water is clean, and free parking sits directly at the beach. Best used as a fallback when SW winds make more consistent breaks unrideable. Intermediate surfers will handle it comfortably.
