A Marosa is a compact sand-bottom beachbreak just outside the fishing port of Burela on Galicia's north coast. Shifting left and right peaks run across the whole beach, with the standout being an occasional lefthander that peels along the base of the cliffs at the west end, best shaped at low to mid tide. Waves are slopey and medium-paced rather than hollow, welling up and backing off with flat spots between sets. It can take a bit of west in the wind, which widens its usable window and draws surfers in when the other breaks are blown out. Best swell is northwest to north in the 1 to 2.5 metre range; larger swells tend to close out the banks. A jetty at the east end creates a sheltered swimming zone and a useful reference for reading the shifting peaks. Car park, free roadside parking, showers and a summer lifeguard are all on site. Submerged rocks near the cliff section demand attention on lower tides.
